About Valampuri Kite Resort
The name Valampuri comes from a rare left-spiral shell, believed in Hindu tradition to symbolize prosperity and positive energy. Inspired by this natural wisdom, we created an eco-resort that welcomes nature inside. Set across 2.5 acres, our uniquely crafted cabins are built with natural, locally sourced, and recycled materials, offering a peaceful space for relaxation, yoga, and meditation.
Our Seafood Restaurant serves a gentle fusion of Sri Lankan and Western cuisine using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. We proudly cater to vegetarian, vegan, raw vegan, and gluten-free diets, while supporting local communities through responsible sourcing and meaningful employment.

What We Believe
Philosophy & Vision
This project started as a dream in 2015, and after a lot of hard work, it became a reality. When my friend and I began building this project, the land was a dumping yard, and it took up to four months just to clean it up. We created an eco-resort because I always lived in “concrete boxes,” meaning all four walls are cemented, which is why we wanted to build the resort and get in touch with nature. During this process, we met Uncle Shell, also known as Sangu Mama, and he explained the meaning of Valampuri. We realized it was the perfect name! The word “Valampuri” in the Tamil language means “Left Spiral.” It describes a rare shell, one in a million, which uniquely spirals counterclockwise. Hindus believe it brings wealth and success.
Our Philosophy
At Valampuri Kite Resort, our philosophy is rooted in simple, mindful living and deep respect for nature. We strive to create experiences with minimum harm to the environment by prioritizing local resources, reducing waste, and practicing reuse and recycling in everything we do. We believe in healthy living, honest food, and supporting the local community, while sharing good energy and positive vibes with everyone who visits. Valampuri is a place where simplicity, sustainability, and human connection come together naturally.
Our Vision
Our vision is to live fully in the present while caring responsibly for the future of our planet. We aim to move towards off-grid living, grow our own food on our land, and maintain a microfiber-free and alcohol-free environment that supports both personal well-being and environmental balance. Through meditation, yoga, and spaces designed with natural elements like shells, we hope to inspire a slower, healthier way of living—one that future generations can enjoy in harmony with nature.
